forget-me-not : Reflections (2026)
A little bit behind the scenes of creating this mini series.
Created between July & August 2026.
I created these works using the same embroidery files as I did in forget-me-not “Panel 1”, and also managed to track down and use the same paint as I did during the forget-me-not series.
These Reflections works all use the same embroidery file and hold a similar philosophy as forget-me-not, in the way that, as the series goes on, the petals take on the colour of the background, as if they’re fading away — a lot of which was decided on the fly.
Each of these works' titles references their corresponding moment in forget-me-not.
The flower structure/design is based on what I was currently making at the time - WILDFLOWERS (Bloom Four) - with a more simplified colour selection and order to replicate how I created the forget-me-not series.
I’m undecided if I’ll continue to make versions of these for the next forget-me-not viewing.
more about Reflections below.
a scene very reminiscent of making forget-me-not
Painting "Autumn Mourning"
frame one complete
"A gentle breeze" frame two
Paiting "to take me away"
"to take me away" third frame finished
Painting "Gone, still"
"Gone, Still" - first run through complete. i'll run through the works another 2 more times with added petals and texture - it's like painting.
painting "Carried by the wind"
Colour progression - same as "forget me not" but i added more time by extending the green
Second run through of "Autumn Mourning"
Second run through of "to take me away"
A small collection of background colours used
Second or third run through of ''Gone, still''
Background colours used in " Carried by the wind "
third run through of "Carried by the wind" this work took a long time to finish, the subtle shades going from blue -> grey -> white, not just colour matching the background but keeping the effect of the paint dropping away. a lot of fun but it also took a lot of time.
